My Life On Mainland Europe

During my studies at DCU as part of the DCU Access Programme, I had several part-time student jobs. With the support of my family I was able to enroll in a Masters programme at University of Glasgow after completing my degree. This was overall a great experience, as it was my first time living away from home and allowed me to get the full student experience.

After graduation, and after a few months being back in Dublin, in 2012 I moved to Dresden, Germany to take up a job working as a scientist. Since then I have lived in various cities in Germany (Dresden, Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin!), making friends with people from all around the world. One of my proudest moments is meeting likeminded people from around the globe who also had a passion for sports - and with that we started GAA clubs!

From establishing Dresden and Hamburg's first ever GAA clubs, to spearheading the development of the Cologne Celtics GAA club, sport and community have been ever-present themes in my life on mainland Europe.

My fondest moments are the worthwhile activities we carried out together at the GAA clubs, including setting up Irish Language classes for all, running clubs to keep active during the no-training period (including with the RunningHome initiative), and making our clubs open to the topic of mental health and how important it is to our overall wellbeing, among other important and rewarding activities.

Apart from sports, I'm an avid reader and have recently gotten into acting, appearing as an extra in several German TV shows.
